Oh God, another thread about Suspension (110)

    Hi Guys,

In the rolling resto of my Isuzu 110 its time to start thinking suspension. This is the hardest part for me as its the most important. I've read through all the posts I can fund about it, and plenty of stuff on the internet.. but I still have some questions

Currently I have king springs and bilstein shocks - which I love - but I'm considering a lift as I will be fitting 255/85 tyres (and the Isuzu is a little higher anyway - so it may be the original height?) and would like a little more breathing room for fording water.

I'd like to keep with Billies, but I'm not sure the standard ones will be long enough with a lift. I like the idea of running 7100's as they are fully rebuildable and of exceptional quality. (and also the AUD makes them good value at about $150 ea.) The 7100 has an extended length of 26.06" and a collapsed length of 16.03".

Had a look at the LR Automotive kit - expensive, and I don't like the idea of using spacers if I can avoid it.

The LR: 110, isuzu, bullbar no winch - yet, polyairs, will be fitting a long range tank within the life of this upgrade.

    What kind of valving should I have? 255/70 F & R?

With a collapsed length of 16.03 I would need to raise the front mount my 1.5-2inches (I think). Is there a brand of raised turrets that are better than the others? What about the rear?

Also to get the spring rates right, am I going to need to weigh the vehicle? Where would be a good place to do this?

    Thanks guys,
    Dec

Have a look at OME 766 springs from ARB for the front. They give you about 50mm lift and were specifically designed for the Isuzu 110.

IIRC with the 7100's if you get the remote reservoir style they allow shorter bodies so open/collapsed lengths are reduced for longer travel installation.

Best to use the sprung weight for determining required spring rates.

Is there anyone running 7100's on a Defender (or 110) ?

if so, what valving and pin kit are you running?

    Hey Flagg

We were running king springs and bilstein shocks, and resontly as you know we have upgraded to 2'' dobbinson coils all round.

We got the coils off Shane at suspension stuff, he does the set to suit the county with the isuzu diesel engine. if you email him or ring him he will ask you what modifications you have fitted or have plans to fit and he will organise the best rates for your needs

At first we kept the standard hight bilstein shocks (because they are a great shock and were very happy with them) but due to the taller springs they were topping out in the front pretty badly off-road and restricted travel in the rear alot.
So in went some long travel procomps in the rear and some 2'' longer Boss 12 stage adjustables for the front.

The procomps are a tad soft in some situations but are genrally a good cheap allrounder that come in many different lengths!!

    The Boss shocks are awesome!!
we are very happy with them and have provided the county with a nice soft adjustable ride and an adaquet amount of travel

If you want i can load up some pics of how the county sits with a fully loaded camper trailer in tow......

    CHEERS TIM.
