Deep Cycle Battery Replacement for Defender

I was rewiring my HF radio the other day and found out that the 2nd battery, which is 4 years old, was dead as a door nail.

It was a VARTA 12V 60Ah (5h) 8Ah (20h). I run dual battery set up with a Pirahna management system which has worked fine.

I was wondering if I should replace it with the same brand and type or can anyone suggest another brand of deep cycle battery that will fit in next to the larger start battery.

On the 2nd battery I run a fridge, sound system, UHF and HF radio as well as a couple of external lights for around camp.

You will get various opinions on batteries as there's a few choices out there.
I have an Optima Yellow Top and an Exide Orbital, both of which are deep cycle batteries that you can also start off (the new spiral thingy type batteries). I run a fridge, radios, etc etc etc and both have been faultless so far.

For energy density I suggest an AGM battery such as Absorbed Power or Fullriver.
In N70 size they provide 90-100 AH and can take quick charge and high discharge.
I have had an Absorbed Power for 5.5 years and its still going strong in the second battery compartment of my RRC, and they are not supposed to like heat.

Under the seat of a defender they should last forever.

I put a 100 amp Marelli alternator in so it chages up much quicker than the old standard unit so the batteries suggested should not be that difficult or take too long to get back to charge.

Except I had one on the same trips as my AGM and it developed an internal fault/dropped cell at 13 months, one month out of warranty.

Still have the AGM in the car going strong, and for that matter the Allrounder sitting on my garage floor awaiting recycling.
