    ok...this is a worry.

    the car has actually been off for an hour. when I saw the temp gauge it had only been running for 5 mins while Ian checked that it came on and went off with the engine.

    awabbit yes I did fit an auber...is the map sensor thing hard to fit? I don't know a lot about the boost gauges so you will have to forgive my lack of knowledge

    ok just twigged the unit is porobably in Fahrenheit Ian said he hasn't changed any settings which would make it around 115 degrees C does that sound better?
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    Thats what I was just thinking Lou, 115 is definately normal

    I reckon you would've had a pink fit had you gone for a drive and seen it hit 1000deg!!!!

    a pink fit I think I would of probably passed out!! and then caused a massive pile up on the M5...

    I'm very interested in the map sensor thing though..would say a lot of arsing around as I have the EGT gauge fitted in a really tidy spot

    You will find information on how to set it up for reading boost pressure on the auberins.com website - also from memory they have instruction you can download.

    The same digital readout is used for several functions, just the sensor/sender (e.g. thermocouple for egt, manifold air pressure (MAP) for boost pressure, etc.) changes, and configure/calibrate the readout to suit the type of sender.

    Computer controlled engines commonly have MAP sensors, or Auber sell them.

    Yep all on the info on setting up the MAP sensor is on the web site.

    Here's a couple of pictures of mine in the car (the MAP sensor is the black box on the firewall with the green plug).





    I ran the cable with the EGT cable up to the meter in the car. I took the boost pressure from the waste gate actuator line by putting a t-piece in the line and running a piece of 1/4" hose up to the MAP sensor.

    any chance of a piccie to where the pipe ends up on the waste gate?

    I will have a look on the aubur website see if I can find the map sensor

    So I take it I only need a MAP sensor that can read up to 3bar rather than the one that reads up to 4bar.....

    also awabbit did you buy the pre assembled one rather than the disassembled one?

    Yes dullbird, the 3bar MAP with the pre-assembled loom.

    No pictures of the fitting onto the waste gate line sorry. It is quite tight to get a camera in there. I sold the car last Tuesday so I can't even go and try to take photos ...

    Be careful working down behind the turbo, the positive lead to the starter motor is down there and it is easy to accidentally short it with a spanner . Best to disconnect the battery first.

    2 bar absolute is approx 1 bar or 14.5 psi boost pressure.

    3 bar absolute is approx 2 bar or 29 psi boost pressure.

    4 bar absolute is approx 3 bar or 43.5 psi boost pressure.
