It may well depend on whether your engine runs with a copper and brass radiator or an aluminium one. With the Rover V8 and the former, I have used Tectaloy (correct spelling) with good results. I am now using Penrite Pro anti freeze anti boil which I find very good indeed.

I agree, Tectaloy Gold (concentrate) appears to be good for the standard Rover.

Any thoughts on using non anti freeze not anti boil coolant?

I've just switched to corrosion inhibitor only. Freezing is not a problem
and as the coolant without the antiboil additive is more effiecient at its job, hopefully boiling wont be an issue either

I used SQ36 which was purely a corrosion inhibitor in my 3.5 litre Rover car from 1978 till 2006, changed every 12 months as recommended,..no problem at all.

I use the Nulon Long Life Coolant Concentrate at a 50/50 mix with de-mineralised water.

I would recommend flushing the system with clean water to remove all traces of previous coolant as mixing brands can make a mess of your cars cooling system.

I don't recommend flushing the cooling system with fresh water,I recommend getting a rad shop to do it properly.I used Nulon long life for years in my Tdi and it worked well. Pat

There is no old coolant in the system as the moron who owned it before me blew a head gasket & pretty much drained the system...
There appears to be no mud in the system & I am going to flush it myself.

I have accidentally slipped out of the driveway & test drove it the other day. Temp never rose above 1/3.

If I was to run coolant at 50/50 with Tectaloy gold it would $120....... Will have to look at the Nulon & Penrite I be thinkin'.

Mate if it never went above 1/3 youre probably missing a thermostat. I'd check, just in case
