Hello, I have 35w HID headlights and HID Light Force fitted to my D2, wouldn't have anything else. I knew they were illegal to retrofit and thought about it for a long time, older light lenses are not really designed for the globe...the light pattern is different and one is not supposed to get the maximum benefit, after a mate fitted them to his I changed my mind. I refocussed them down a bit and do not get flashed anymore.
I was pulled over by the Police TMU in my home town and had the law explained to me. I haven't read the regs but any copper'll tell you they're illegal without headlight washers and self adjustability. (all new cars with HID low beams have these functions).
My remedy was to refit the headlight washers to the bullbar and buy the headlight motors from the UK. It was an easy fix, plug and play. And now I'm more legal than not (the headlights are manually adjusted not auto) but it'll be enough to get me by I think.
