Airtec Snorkels on a Disco 1
I have a Disco 1 3.9 V8 with the round metal air filter cylinder and was after opinion on how easily the Airtec snorkels fit. A work collegue has offered me the snorkel itself for $100. There are no other fittings with it, just the snorkel. He said that it didn't come with any tubing to fit it to the air cleaner cylinder. I would have thought that a complete kit would come with everything needed to fit it. Help and opinions please.
Also is it possible to change the air filter box over to the updated square plastic one? I have a dual battery system fitted.
Thanks
Vinnie

The Airtec is excellent unit made to suit the square box aircleaner in the D1 update and incorporates all the parts for 2 well designed entry points to the air box (new one on the side and one at front where air box trumpet is removed). It also entails moving the air box backwards slightly which frees up room in front for a second battery (after relocating coil & power steering reservoir).
I am not sure if Airtec D1 raised intakes are made anymore or if other designs out there incorporate moving box back to allow battery room??? You may be better sticking with your tin can air cleaner and make up a simple flexible tube connection to the intake bits you have.

LRA would probably be able to sell you the side entry moulding for the tin cleaner for an RRC.
The LRA kit did not include a pipe and most just used a bit of steel braced flexible hose on RRC anyway.

Thanks guys. Found out the unit is an Airflow unit, not Airtec, but I guess there's not much difference.
Cheers

Avoid fitting the air inlet to the side of the tin can filter housing, the round filter is designed to be fed air from the front (trumpet end), check out my pics of my setup in Gallery under "Tank", may help, Regards Frank.
