Triumph Rover Spares have a 4.6 SC V8 for sale, i sent them an inquiry about it and a few other things, my spidey senses lol, are whispering that it will be big $$$ though.
They also do a few other rover motors that would probably be a better option than to SC a 3.9L on NOS, i think they do a pretty tough 5.0L and 5.5L.
Im, currently deciding on weather to build or buy a P38, either way a RR will be in the driveway soon
I think if your not using it for 4wding i would go for a rear mount turbo before i fitted NOS
Probably cheaper and easier and less likely to explode

Let me put my 2 cents worth in.I have a Rover SD1 with a high comp turbo charged 3.9 V8 from Triumph Rover spares. It was my everyday car for about 3 years.I never had any problems with it at all.Including driving in peak hour traffic on the Monash carpark.I had no intercooler and was running straight gas (LPG).I use to have detonation problems but since changing to a scorcher Distributor and having it tuned properly there were never any other problems.
It now runs 9 PSI and makes 300 HP.With enough torque to pull a house. All i can say is as long as the motor is in good condition and is set up right there is no reason why you cant make some good HP and be reliable. The only thing i was breaking was Rover diffs and the Rover 5spd gearbox.Which is now replaced with a Supra 5spd
.
In the future i will be going Haltech E6S which i have sitting here and Haltech Distributor with a 3.9 plennum and intercooler.I would easily expect another 40-50 Hp gain.As for the Nos i cant help there. If you have it set up properly it should be fine.If your in Victoria and want to have a look at my set up your more then welcome.
Cheers
Chris
i kinda like the sound of their 500 hp donk. At 7K the price isnt too bad
yes that pic is my engine, and yes the supercharger is from a SUPRA
Nos is simple easy and a very quick way to bump your HP, 50 - 100 HP in a 3.9 isn’t a real problem. BUT you have a super charger this changes everything. injecting before the super charger is the easiest but a big bang will follow if you get some thing else wrong. injecting after the super means you have to adjust jet sizes or the pressure created by the super charger there is also the problem of getting it to mix or even volumes to each cylinder, you are now out of the realms of a DIY kit. Get it wrong and all you will do is make puddles of aluminum and you will get it wrong, there are no, NO second chances. Forget about it.
I was running an AP6 , 318 steel bits in the BW and a 150 shot, 185 Dunlop aquajets on the back = mid 12s
