Question D2 Auto stuck in first

    Hi everyone,

We need some advise on this Auto?

It appears to be stuck in first gear, it goes no faster then 20 km an hour at 3500 rpm.

The earth terminal on the battery had been shorting out while driving, and i am worried it maybe stuck in manual mode, through the inhibtor switch.

Can anyone shed any new light on the subject.

Also the fluid is nice and clean so nothing has burnt out inside.

What was the earth terminal shorting on?
Shorts are normally to ground so you should be safe there .

    Any warning lights?

Next Q might be silly but I have to ask:
    It's not in low range?
Believe me, it's happened before .

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes & see if it resets to normal.

Just from other posts I've read an underperforming battery can cause inhibitor switch issues, including limp home mode. Are any lights flashing on the dash or the transmission selector which indicate limp mode. Suggest you should check the battery output since you say you have been having battery problems... could be the cause.
    Cheers

no there are no flashing lights, and the solder had melted in the terminal and the earthe cable was floating inside the terminal shorsting on itself and sometime not starting the car.

    will check other symptons

    thanks
