good day
im going to try and fix my brake vacuum pump via a how to on aulro. seem to be a good and cheap fix as i cant afford a new one right now. just a few questions..
1.is it vital to find TDC to remove and replace the pump or can you just take it off and put it back on without finding the TDC?
2.it seems to be leaking on the underside of the pump due to the rivets giving way, can you smear some sort of gasket sealant around the whole unit to get away with it leaking? (Say for roadworthly purposes)
3.i know there is a paper gasket involved for when you take the head of the pump off BUT is there one for where you bolt the pump back on to the block?

It's not vital to find TDC. It simply means you may be fighting a little against spring pressure when bolting it up.
Yes, there is a paper gasket between the pump and block.
And no, dont smear goo around the pump. Thats just yukky. Take it off, drill the rivets, replace with bolts and it should last.
