Freelander water leak.
Just recently I have started to use water ,the engine is not overheating just after driving for a couple of hours the headertank is empty and needs filling up.Drives well ,starts good no other problems.
Freelander 1.8 , approx 10 years old.
Any ideas ? advice would be appreciated.
If it needs a trip to the garage could any mechanics fix it or or it best taking to a landrover dealer.

Check oil, make sure it is not over full or milky. if ok get it pressure checked could be something simple like leaking water pump but could be a dropped liner which is major.

With the 1.8 its probably a head gasket... very common issue on all the K-series.. still a great engine tho...
as suggested look for milky oil... otherwise its just leaking water either outside the engine or inside the bores.. rather than into the oil..
still needs fixing!

nothing a couple of bottles of chem-i-weld wont fix......
check the seal on the the actual radiator cap.....if its losing coolant with no obvious leaks.....the cap could be losing pressure and allowing it to evaporate......
also check the footwells inside the car incase the heater is leaking.......
