    Weld Differential gears together for better traction

    I came across this link on another V8 related forum. I don't know whether the person actually did this expecting it to make an improvement, if so talk about a brain dead individual.

    On the other hand maybe it is just a joke.

    OMG, so stupid but seen it done b4 among my not to mechanical mates welding diffs,, but they were smart enough to not put it back in the car

    Won't load for me, but it is the pinion welded to the crown wheel? It comes out much later in the thread that it was a wind up (bloody well executed one at that, too!)

    CIG lockers were very popular when I used to rally Datsun 1600"s 20 odd years ago. A lot cheaper than an LSD. A lot of fun off road, very predictable but was a pain on road. It would chirp around every corner and turn a few heads. Great for doing u-turns though, just plant the foot. I have heard of 4WDs having them done but just puts to much load on everything and un drivable on road. It's also totally illegal.
