ones a cat convertor![]()
The one immediately after the flexible joint and before the main muffler has KAT stamped onto it.
Erich
dont have to presume anything, if its after the turbo flange and flex joint it is a cat convertor.. it and the main muffler are not required![]()
as i have required this system and my TD5 disco exhaust system is rooted i have fitted this system with a few mods as i have deleted the main big ass muffler and sound resonater and only have the flex joint to the kat then a extended piece which runs till the rear diff with no mufflers ect
is this Kat gonna lower my performance or should i cut it out and add a small muffler which is floating around the shed or cut it out and have it run straight thru, will the turbo have enough pressure to spool up with just a std exhaust sytem with the muffler kat and sound resitor cut out has any one done this and what where your results
all your thoughts will be appreciated
thanks kelvin
turbos and back pressure dont really go hand in hand, less BP=faster spool times.
as ive done a few of these now for a STD system as you have i would have done the following.
replace the flex joint with a new SS one ( the OE LR one is a major restriction)
remove the kat
remove the main muffler
you can leave the rear resinoator as its straight through but again its a restriction.
remove it and replace with a new 300-380mm hot dog.
if you look closley at the LR mufflers you will notice that the pipe is squashed down to go inside the flex.kat.main muffler and the rear one.
have a look at post #83
