    uk lro seeking wisdom

G'day guy's a number of years ago (in the 90's i think, auldtimers lol) in the uk, lroi did an article on new suspension for the defender series, part of that article focused on a hydrolic or pneumatic suspension system fitted as standard to AU army defenders,,,,, does anybody have any knowlage of this was it standard, was it any good, do you still use this type of suspension, the reason i ask is at the time a british company imported this system but now have ceased trading and nobody seem's to know anything about it and think i'm losing it, lol

All the ADF 110's use coil springs and the 6x6's are coil front and a load sharing leaf spring arrangement at the rear.

Air bag kits that replace the coils are supplied by some companies here, at least for the rear. At the front you obviously need to relocate the damper and IIRC most use an air sprung RR shock bracket to achieve this.

Perhaps you are referring to the Kinetic suspension developed by a WA company.
This is now used under licence by Toyota on the new 200 series "Amazon" to you.
I suspect that the Kinetic was probably "under evaluation" by the army but was never taken up.

Its a system not unlike the ACE as fitted to the D2, it was trialed in some RRC's by some of the landy specialists and pretty sure the likes of LRA/ AMV/ Graeme Cooper/ Rang Rov all had it fitted to at least 1 vehicle.

The Citroen WRC team were also using a variation of the Kinetic suspension ( to damn good effect too ) until it was banned under revised FIA regs
