    your 110 suspension

    hello fellow roverers

i know that there has been alot of talk about suspension and modifications to suspension but i thought i would start this thread to get "a bit of a detailed section on everyones experiences and problems" with suspension and everything in relation.

1: photos of your vehicle (flexed up or at stand)

2: state what size lift/suspension(1,2,3,4,5,6 inch lift etc etc) or mod's you have chosen and also reason why!

3:what problems you encountered when you done the mod's and how you overcome them(fabricated or purchased all associated bushes, mounts drop arms, extended brake lines or little tricks and techniques etc etc)

4:where bits and pieces were purchased or ordered from and prices of parts/kits.

5: photos of your parts (suspension related ) lol

    6:brand preferences....

7:any other interesting mods and conversions you have/or have seen (weird suspension setups, other kits/parts from other brands of vehicle mated to land rovers etc etc)

8:engineering costs and regulations (ways around)

disco's are welcome to join in also

no photos of yet but here i go

i have a 200tdi 110 defender i had about a 1.5inch lift HD lovell springs and standard bilstien shocks but decided that since i wanted better travel and better ride at the same time the HD lovell's were to harsh a ride so i ordered a set of 2inch lift dobinson (soft) coils and a set of 2inch bilstien shocks to suit the springs.
ordered these from shane at "suspension stuff" i think the whole lot cost around $1200 to my door.

did not notice any change in steering but did notice a change when cornering (bit more body roll but it is better than having a harsh ride)

am planning on putting a lift in my county but cannot decide what size what brand but i know it will be setup as a more of an offroader than a long distance ON roader

yeah hopefully it turns into a good thread

i seen those terriferma shocks they seem quiet good for there price... dullbird put a full post up about them with VERY good photos and a full road test i think this is the link

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130...on-shocks.html

i dont mind dobinson coils they seem quite good so far and am very happy with them and the colour looks great (aqua blue/greeny colour) lovells are supposed to be a good coil but mine were just way to hard hence why the dobinsons.

    keep us informed

oh S#@T forgot to mention that rangies and any utes info also(so basically any land rover)

hahah good call rangier rover you can give the bagged commodores a run for there money now

i dont know wat the height is ill have to get back to you on that one! but i am running only 31x10.5x15

i am thinking about 3-4inch lift with 33x10.5r15's neg25 offset rims (i think thats what they are) for the county it should suit it quite well i think (as long as it dont scrub the exhaust) but if it does it will give me an excuse to get a 3" mandrel system bent elsewere

but this airbag setup i am seeing more about it and getting quite interested in its pro's and con's.. have you fixed yours up isuzurover? what does the lift equate to at max height (in inches 2,3,4)?

how much did you's pay for the whole setup?

I have dobinson springs and shocks. I thinks the shocks are great value. The springs at their standard hgt are a 2" + lift which I didn't want. Some do want a big lift which I understand, bur not what I need. The height interferred with the steering which was helped by offset bushes. However have had front prop shaft vibration because of hgt.
130 front spring seem to be the same diameter wire and no of coilss as army spec springs.
I note my previous OME springs were 0.5mm wider insure diameter and had one more coil.
    Hpoe this is of use.
At the end of the day I am looking at fitting oem 130 springs.

I should add I am referring to a isuzu 110.

auh i see well i dont know if it is just me but when i took the county springs out of my 110 isuzu (they r the original springs) they seemed to be about 1" (maybe a bit more) larger than standard defender 110 springs they also looked to be a bit different because the spiral curl in the spring was the same from top to bottom were as with defender ones they compress more at the tops and bottoms (i cannot remember what they call that) but my isuzu has 130 army springs in the rear and im pretty sure it makes it a bit higher in the rear end .
