TD5 Rad/Eng Flush Without Starting Engine?
Im in the process of doing an overhaul of my engine in a D2 TD5. I have the radiator out getting flushed and cleaned....but I didnt flush the engine before removing the radiator. The engine has green nulon, and I want to change over to red/OAT. Is there a process for flushing the engine without starting it, so that I dont gunk up the freshly cleaned radiator?
Thanks in advance.

My oil cooler recently packed it in and as a result had lots of oil in my cooling system...still do it is very hard to get rid off. As a result I did numerous flushes of the cooling system. I removed the bottom drain plug and, and shoved a hose into the top hose port in the head (where the coolant temp sensor is) and that flushed it out pretty good.

....yes...that bypasses the t-stat...should work. Thanks for that.
As a further query, I remember using citric acid to clean up the gallerys on a disused ford big block years ago. Was very effective, without being harmful to, well, me, the environment, and wont attack any alloys.
Was thinking of cycling a weak citic acid mix though the engine using an electric water pump....any coments?
