The Recycle button will only stays active for 10 minutes.
Can’t help you with the iPod, I only use MP3 CDs
Can the recirc button on the Disco 4 be made to stay on recirc? As it is, each time the ignition is turned off it defaults to fresh air. Whilst I hope to mainly be on the open road, it's not so great in Sydney traffic.
Also, can the ipod jack under the centre arm rest be made to actually charge the ipod/iphone?
I'm right down to the wire on buying one of these wonderful machines so I'd really appreciate your advice.
Regards,
Andrew M.

an rather silly design that is presumably for safety reasons although I didn't think people passing out due to stale air was a big issue in the motoring world...
not great for dirt roads, but I presume it would be easy enough to change this with a bit of wiring rearrangement...
Always looking for creative new ways to get bogged... :whistling:
76 RR...sold coz fuel was expensive at 70c/l
93 200 Tdi Disco...old faithful...sold to make way for...
99 Td5 Disco ACE...nice drive...hopefully reliable...
Not sure if it's the same but on the FL2 if you hold it down for 5 secs or so the recirc light flashes and it will stay on until you switch the car off. Possibly the same on the D4 but even so you'll need to do this every time, maybe the dealer can reprogram it??
I spoke with a technician today from the Land Rover Customer Support line - 1800.... Nice to know they are there. The word is that this is a design feature to reduce fatigue on long trips. As you rightly pointed out, the air can be held on recirc for the duration of a trip if the button is pushed and held in until the light flashes. Certainly not a show stopper but just a petty annoyance. Thanks again for your help.

Just hold the button hold for 5 secs and it will flash. Then it will stay on till the car turns off.
Works on my D4
Dorko
I knew there was a reason for keeping my D1. Push the recirc button in and it stays in, ignition on or off.
Regarding the iPhone/iPod, when the iPhone came out they changed some gizmatronic doodad. Older compatible car stereos that communicated and charged older iPods could play the music on the iPhone but it would not charge the phone.
When my stereo was wrecked by thievesI got a new stereo which charges both my old iPod classic and the phone. Perhaps you are looking at some older model radio like I had previously that can't charge phones and newer ipods? It wouldn't surprise me the LR were oblivious to this change.
As an aside with my new stereo, when I turn off the stereo/switch off the car, the old iPod goes to "pause" mode but does not shut down. It stays running silently until the battery drains. I have to remember to manually shutdown the iPod once it's been plugged into the car - annoying.
