Pretty sure you have the same problem, hard to diagnose from a video but carbon trapped between piston and head on these motors happens quite often when they have been sitting for a while.

Well psimpson7 , after videoing complete with sound . what was the problem ,snapped crankshaft perhaps ?

It was a bent/dented sump and the crank hitting it,he beat it straight again and it's all good now.

Ah sorry forgot to update this. As Eric said, the sump had a slight dent in it (most likely from when I jacked the engine up to change the mounts) and the crank was just touching it.
Removed and reshaped sump and all good.
Thanks to everyone for their help, particually the_109 for coming over twice to help!

Thanx for updating, i was going to say that its not like any noise id heard before off an 8, big ends go quiet as you rev, tappets wizz up to speed, linners generally go quiet as you rev,
well done!!
