Disco T-Case into 110 - what to do with speedo connection?

    I have put a 1.2:1 Disco LT230 in my 110. Replacing a 1.003:1 LT230.

The speedo drive is 2x2mm on the new case, the old one (and cable) is 3x3 mm. What have others done? Can I swap the speedo drive between cases? If so, how?

Hi Ben, just lever it out and fit the 1.003:1 gear and carrier.
It'll be fine AFAIK. I have changed them over in mine a few times.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

    T-Case into 110

Hi as you have found out there are two cable sizes, the drive gear housing does pull/lever out BUT it can be a pig to move, soak with a good penetrant oil before attempting and wear safety glasses, the thin edge flies/breaks off and can end up where you don't need it. The number of teeth on the plastic gear relate to the tyre size only not the ratio in the T box. If your replacement gear has a different tooth count it will not be accurate with existing tyres.

Re isuzurover's above swap, worth noting something that can be done with an LT230 1.003:1 high to obtain a high range of 1.27:1 and low of 4.21: 1. Seems practicable alternative to disco box with 30% reduction Maxidrive low. I have all the bits. Just have to find time to assemble it and instal in my 300Tdi Defender 130.

I figured a new 22 tooth input gear that drives the 44 tooth high range gear on the 1.003 LT230 intermediate cluster was feasible and had one cut by www.cottamengineering.com.au. This is instead of the standard 26 tooth input gear that drives the 41 tooth middle gear on the cluster.

I wonder if Ashcroft Transmissions had similar 22 tooth input gears made if there would be a small market for them with additional possible use for LT230's out of old dead Range Rovers. Maybe Dave or Ian could comment on this.

Both came out quite easily. Probably because the new t-case was new and clean and the old was very oily

Lucky you, mine were both rust-tight. I went the other way, swapping a 1.2 box for a 1.003.
Shouldn't be hard to find a new home for the 1.003
