Not Coming up to Temperature

Didn't think the fuel cooler had a thermostat? and couldn't see it in the manaul dont suppose you can point to the section?


I'm interested because I've taken EGR water cooler off and converted the cooling system to the MP1(?) sysem. No where did I see anything indicating the fuel cooler contained a termostat?

Fuel cooler
The fuel cooler is located on the right hand side of the engine and is attached to the inlet manifold. The cooler is
cylindrical in design and has a coolant feed connection at its forward end. A 'T' connection at the rear of the cooler
provides a connection for the coolant return from the heater matrix and coolant return from the fuel cooler.
The 'T' connection houses a thermostat which opens at approximately 82C. This prevents the cooler operating in
cold climates.
Two quick release couplings on the cooler allow for the connection of the fuel feed from the pressure regulator and
return to the fuel tank. A counter flow system is used within the cooler.
Fuel flows around a coolant jacket within the cooler and flows from the back to the front of the cooler. As the hot fuel
cools travelling slowly forwards it meets progressively colder coolant travelling in the opposite direction maintaining a
differential cooling effect.

it does let you gauge the flow through the engine though. if the heater warms up its generally purged correctly.

OK well it's no different, heater is getting hot (sweating like a mongrel with it flat out) I tried it facing down and facing up, expansion tank as high as I could and there is no air coming out of the bleed on the top rad hose, it's flowing out of the bleed with a constant stream.

Apart from an air lock in the system, is there any other reasons it wouldn't come up to temp.

Never had this problem before, even when changing the radiator or even when changing the old coolent and thermostat, so what could have changed, could the fuel cooler be the problem, could it be that I changed the heater hoses and it's not purging from the heater core/matrix.

You fitted a new thermostat didn't you?
I'll bet the problem is there.
Put another one in.
