I tried the old LR filter twice and went on without a problem. Eventually I got the micrometer out and measured the female threads and the new filter was .4mm narrow in diameter compared to the LR filter. So on went the old filter - which I hate doing. I know alot of people say change the filter on every 2nd oil change, but I like doing it every oil change.I contacted the company that I bought the filter from and they said that they have never heard of this happening before, and offered me a credit for it right away.
Now the real question is how much oil will I loose if I take the oil filter off without first draining the motor? Is it really worth the hassel and should I change the oil and filter a bit sooner than normal (10,000k's)?
What should I do?
Not very much, about the same as you did the first time.
