Connecting arb compressor to air tank

    Hi all

I have an ARB air compressor mounted in the box under the drivers seat. This compressor runs air to the front and rear lockers (once I install the centres!!).

I have scored 2 x 10 litre air tanks and have mounted them on the under side of the drivers side seat box.

My question is how do I connect an air line from the ARB compressor to the air tank? The purpose of the air tank is purely to pump up tyres quickly and use an air duster for blowing out filters etc.

There are three outlets on the arb locker compressor - 1 for each (F & R)locker solenoid and one for the pressure switch. I was thinking of removing the pressure switch, attaching a brass t piece and then running a hose from one side of the t piece through a non return valve to the tanks.

The pressure switch can then be reconnected to the remaning side of brass t piece. Will this work?

    Thanks

It should do, although I can't see the reason for needing a non-return valve, as the pressure would level off across the system.

Is the air compressor on of the small ones designed for just lockers (there is a real small air tank on the top) or the larger general purpose ARB compressor.

If it is the former it is not up to scratch for long term pumping up tyres - just doesn't have the oomph or duty cycle. These are designed to just pressure the air system on the lockers and only cut in after pressurisation when pressure drops a little. They do not keep running.

as pete said, it should work

i doubt 20L compressed air will make re-inflating tyres any quicker as your limiting factor is the output of the pump

the air tanks will work well when you need a vloumn of for a short period of time, filters etc

Thanks for the fast reply guys...

Garry...yes it is the smaller ARB Compressor purely designed for the locker operation.

I do have a Thomas Big Red Compressor bolted beside the rear seat box, so I will just run an air line from that to the tanks.

    Cheers
