I expect it to be stretched, with at least two different wheelbases, and look nothing like a Discovery, in the same way that there is little apparent resemblance between the Discovery and RRSport. I would also expect that there would be some beefing up of the underpinnings, in the same way that there was going from the RR to the 110. This would avoid it impinging on the upmarket image of the Discovery.

I reckon a 110 FC (Forward Control) with Van / Ambulance / 12 seater Bus / Tray / Dual Cab / Camper .... body options would be a good addition to the stable.

TDV6 + (Auto option) + (Hybrid Diesel - Elec Option) + (Air Suspension Option for height / loading) + (Front / Rear Climate Control) + (ABS & TC and locking Front & Rear diffs - to compete with G-Wagen). But the back windows should still be sliding ones, so they can rattle.

I read this posting and thought yummy, I like the idea of a 110 FC camper with all the goodies.

Anything on the new defender shape yet?

The problem is that while redesigning the Defender to meet all new rules would be quite possible, it would be too expensive for the number being built, so it is almost certain to change to the D3/D4 platform to use their already paid for development cost. I expect a D3/4 restyled to look a bit like a Defender, in the same way that a "Hummer" is an off the shelf Chevrolet restyled to look a bit like an HMMWV.

John, I read recently (on a news feed) that Tata had ruled out the D3 chassis as a future platform due to it's excessive weight. The same article said that the next gen Range Rover would be a 7 seater and weigh about 700kg less. So in view of weight considerations the Defender (Icon) project was back to th drawing board. Maybe a Bowler space frame ;):D - or not.

lets hope they dont go down the same road as toyota did, far out that is ugly

Lets all hope that whatever new shape happens, that LR listen to its buyers, - and more importantly, those who trade OUT of LR products.

The majority of them would want value for their dollar and to own a vehicle that is Reliable, sensible in design, ergonomically correct, - though I'd settle for "Vastly improved" - and made of materials and methods that are durable and Fit-For-Purpose . This includes ease of maintenance and omitting technology for the sake of technology, such as LCD screens instead of 'real' gauges that work....

I doubt if the idiots who designed and spec'd my Classic left LR after 1995... - Bet they were promoted !
