I got that information off the Nanocom website. Don't know what the adaptor is, I have always read the SLABS ECU with the engine off - even then you often need to reset the communications link by unplugging the OBD lead and reconnecting when switching between ECU's.

Like others I'm not sure why they replaced the whole hub for an oil leak - I'm aware that it comes as a sealed assembly but there is also a large "O-ring" at the back of the hub that seals between the hub and axle housing - did they replace that O-ring first?

I knew the whole hub assy had to be replaced once i found out you cant just buy the bearing. It is obvious when looking at it that the oil isn't passing over the oring, you can see it coming out of the bearing, still pretty expensive way of doing things.
Does anyone know if the sensor's are available separate or do i have to buy another complete hub assy?

Well dealer replaced the abs sensor today with a full length jobbie back to the slabs ecu and guess what, still didn't fix my three amigo's. Wasn't real happy with the job they did inside the car, so was wondering if someone can tell me where to get some pins for the slabs ecu connector? i thought the new abs sensor would have come with them but apparently not.
    any ideas?

    regards

Discovery Automotive In Wangara Perth 93026680 have the pins.
    How do I know?
I was the one that sourced them but had to buy 1000 plus so there is no point in telling you where I got them as you would have to buy 1000 plus as well and they wernt cheap at that quantity. I dont know how much they are selling them for.
I got them for the exact same reason you are asking to make it look original and neat.
    Good luck

yeah the reason the new sensor was fitted was to take out the connectors, then they fit an extra 6ft of cable with some supercheap crimps? i expected more from a dealer, and will ring Disco auto on mon thanks brad.

Out of curiosity do you know the part number?

    Gask,

Correct about reading the SABS ECU with engine off, and whatever wiring is modded needs to be done in an exemplary fashion, no scotch locks/ crimp conectors .
RE the oil leaks; When you pull the hub assembly out of the axle housing, and the Oring is dry and the oil/ grease slurry is emanating from behind the flange that tends to suggest that the inner bearing seal has failed. I have seen 1 in 10 that has an O ring failure.

Thanks for the advice JC, luckily I haven't had any leaks on the back axle, only the front which as you know is an easy, inexpensive fix. I work on the theory that while-ever I have a spare set of hubs, diffs and axles stashed away in the shed I won't have a problem !
I'm heading down your way next weekend for a two week tour in the D2. What has the weather been like around Hobart? I've got the thermals packed!

I have the terminals at work for all the Benz harnesses. There are different sizes relating to actual pin and wire crimp sizes. Will have a look next week.
Jaycar are also worth a look.

    Cheers
