The diesel particulate filters block up all the time. I have changed heaps of them. Removing it wont have any effect on engine it just wont meet emission standards. But if you have removed the EGR valve like so many people have it wont pass them any way.
Without side tracking this thread I'm not sure this statement is correct on passing Rego. What it may mean is that to pass rego you may be forced to have your exhaust gas analysed for compliance for emission levels.

Im not say it will effect rego's. All cars have to meet an Australian emission standard to be allowed into the country. By removing emission control devices, they will not pass and you can get fined.
