There are very good reasons all modern diesels come with either VNT turbos or a compound turbo system.
There are physical limits to the operating range that can be acheived with a normal wastegated turbo.

Honestly TD5Alives claims for their hybrid turbo make me laugh. Massive torque increase from 750 to 4850rpm.

I'm in the market for the same thing also and have been wondering which would be better. IRB developments do a VNT kit where no manifold changes are needed. Has anyone got this done ?

Has anyone looked at allards? apparently they were involved in the very early days of intercoolers? allard turbo sport is their name...

I sent an inquiry about one for a deefer and then also one for a disco and deefer sent together..

    answer as below

    Hello Steve,

    The original core is 600 x 215 x 27mm - our uprated core is 600 x 320 x 50mm.

The price excluding VAT, but including air freight to Perth on one unit is £374.00.

The total price on two units is £648.00

We look forward to being of service.

    Attachments for your interest.

    Regards, Alan Allard

pricing is very good... and it looks like a big unit...

if your wanting to purchase from Aus... dont forget tombie does or has access to intercoolers...

    Thanks

    Steve

I can vouch for the larger charger.

I just spent a week driving a 04 D2A with all the fruit. Running 35s, kam diffs, lower ratios, uprated axles, cvs etc.

When you stand on the throttle, on bitumen, in the dry, you chirp the wheels.....and it goes! On gravel, its 4 wheel burnout time.

    Awesome.
