A pretty accurate dyno and 0-100 device for $13

Found an application for the Iphone/Ipod that uses the inbuilt G meter and data from the user on vehicle weight to calculate power, braking, 0-100 and quarter mile data. Its remarkably accurate. Could be good for tuning. Check out the video below:

Might be an interesting app to have. And not overly expensive as well.

I tested it on the wife's Ford territory. Ford quotes the model as having 172kW(that would be on premium ULP). I got 152kW on the test on standard ULP. I factored in 20% loss through drive train but it could be a bit lower loss. You can run it so it keeps rear wheel hp. Car is due for a new air cleaner and plugs.

I ran it on my work car the other week (borrowed ipod touch). Max 38kw, but the power graphs levelled out at about 20kw.

I thought it was getting slower, but I didn't think it was that slow. Time for some filters I think.

Yeah an iphone app will do what a dyno costing 10s of thousands of $ is normally required to do.

    Rubbish.

Even a dyno that doesn;t have an inlet air temperature sensor being used is useless.. and you see that all the time.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I hate to break it to you, but a stopwatch, known distance and some maths can tell you the basics that most employ expensive dynos for.

I just replaced the fuel filter on my work car and it's now reading 50% more power than last week. Still down on factory specs but wow, best $20 ever spent.
