    D2 Power steering pump variations.

So my father in his enthusiasm to fix the pump leak that didn't exist dropped the rear cover from the pump. It's a 04/2000 D2 V8, auto, coils and ACE.

The number on the pump is ERR6447. It has a die cast aluminum back and the inlet is under the pump. It's fitted under a large ally casting which has the A/c pump on top towards the centre and the ACE pump on the left.

So far I have found two other pumps, one ERR6044 and another unknown number. There seems to be V8 and diesel and ACE/non ACE pumps. I have spoken to 5 different purveyors of our marque and had an assortment of responses.

    - The 6447 no is ok but we don't have any.
    - The 6447 no is not ok but we have one, $600- second hand (new is $650-!)
    - As above but insert 6044 no.
    - Those no's are no good. All D2 pumps are the same.

So can someone help me with either good no's/applications for no's, A back from a 6447 (even if the pump is stuffed mine is ok). A whole working pump that isn't 2nd hand at list price. Any other info to assist.

I have looked at welding it and it's a last resort but would rather not.

    Thanks in advance.

my steering pump is now leaking and its time to replace it after only 102000 kms.
I obtained prices for rebuilding my pump at a basic $360 + anything extra that is thought to be needed at the time of the rebuild. Also note that it was a 3 day turnaround (pathetic).
Or I could purchase brand new land rover genuine for $450-00 from

    mrautomotive - Home

make your choice , I'm going for the new one and all fitted in a day (I hope)
