You need a strong seal pick.

Otherwise you can try hitting it with a flat head screw driver to make it collapse in on itself.

The other option but looks like it would be a little hard because it is set in deep is to drill a small pilot hole into the seal, screw in a self tapper and then pull it out by levering on the screw.

    cheers...

i went to pull it out, but i pulled a steel sleeve thing out, and a bit of rubber, but it ripped...

and it looks like i damages a steel ring inside the axle... not sure if its part of the seal or the axle though.....

Doesn't sound great but I suspect the steel ring is a part of the seal. I need to pull up the RAVE cd to check about the "sleeve thing" though as I am not sure.

I am soon to replace this seal as oil has migrated from the diff housing to the CV's. Also will replace the swivel seal as I have a little weep from one of them.

Will try check it a little later but hopefully someone else will chime in.

stop being lazy and unbolt the swivel housing like your supposed to.

then you just lever it out with a screwdriver.

look up over the top of the ball joint about inline with where that seal sits you'll find a flange secured with 7 12 point bolt. Remove those bolts, remove the chrome swivel ball and then have at the seal.

    nyargh spuds.. it is too....

the D2's I get with a set of hooked leg calipers (they look like a compass but with points on both legs and they are bent inwards) swing the legs so the points hook outwards insert them into the seal and then work at it, takes a couple of minutes but it usually works.
