I'll get more time this weekend to have a closer look at the motor and try to pull the rotor out and check the brushes/bearings.
I might need to buy a new solenoid pack as well....
and yes slunnie...currently the Warn XD9000 takes up all the room between the chassis rails. I notice that the repalcement larger HP motors also come with an alloy cooling end which would not fit between the chassis rails of the defender.
Speaking of larger capacity winch motors and battery drain, the TMAX 9000 with a 6hp motor recommends a CCA of 650 for a battery.
Anyway...I will get some pictures up this weekend of the damage...
