    D2 New Battery

    Hi,
I need a new battery and am thinking about a Cat battery p/n 175-4370
    825 cca 328.4mm x 171.2mm x 236 mm high.

Any one know if this will fit my car as it is not here at the moment?

    Cheers

    Hi Piddler

I have this battery in my 2003 D2a and it fits perfectly. A good choice as it offers some deep cycle capability and is 100AH. It has normal screw in plugs to check & top up also, and is a full calcium battery so works well with the higher voltage of the Disco alternator.
    Cheers

Have one in my 2000 model and the screw on terminals are just a smidgin high so that the front latch of the battery cover does not lock.

    Great battery tho'.

Had one in my 03MY D2a and also in my Tdi Defender (battery died after nearly 6 years).

As Stuuu says the terminals are a little to high but I was still able to clip in my battery cover though - just.

Centre post battery, supercharge number is MF31-931. these are the suggested fit and are 950-1000 CCA.
Cat have an equivalent, can't remember the number ATM but we have a few at work.
Just ask Cat to cross ref it. Generally truck fit for multiple batteries hence the centrepost.

    Cheers

Gday. I replaced my original battery on the 29/07/09 with a Century 86ZMF CCA950. Was $269 at Battery world. It suits earthmoving equipment AND TD5's!

    Hi,
Was quoted $157 for the Cat battery p/n 175-4370 from the local Cat dealer. I think I will compaire that to the Supercharge and go either.

The century seems pretty expensive for 30% more.

    Worked it out!

Put the front on in first then the back two and it stays clipped!

Dont forget that all us aulro'ians get a discount from supercharge from there battery warehouse they class it as yellow pricing ive been told and its saved me a few bucks over the years .

As for batterys you cant go past either the gold series or the allrounder ive had a few of each with no probs

The larger 1000CCA CAT battery fits.Mine was just under $180 from Westrac CAT.Part no 102-9862 C09A5H 81640 0312 are the numbers I have scribled in my note book,All or part of the numbers may be needed. My D2 isnt here to check.
You will need to change over the lead ends to suit screw type posts(I did, early D2)
It is a bigger battery, physically.Still fits and original clamp still fits.
