The front output on the gearbox will have to be changed, the stage 1 flange is bigger for the double cardan joint. Also the Rangy high range is a higher ratio, the stage1 should have 1.136:1 the late Rangy will either have 0.996 or 1.113:1. The main gear lever is a bit different so is the low range lever. All you do is punch the roll pins out and swap over the levers. While the box is out remove the front oil pump cover and replace the oil pump gears with the new steel gears.

It will bolt straight up to the engin tho like landrover dave has mentioned is correct tho you will have all the bits needed so its just a simple swap over and i would also be doing the oil pump as the plastic impellers are crud .

Tho i would think you will find the stage 1 will have a 1.36 to 1 high range not 1.136 the rangie box will make the stage 1 alot easyer on fuel at hwy speed and wont affect the low range at all as they are all the same ratio

Use the RR gears and loose the overdrive it just introduces a weakness into the drive train that you don't need.
It doesn't effect low range I must admit I dont think I would go to .996 on a Stage 1 if the engine is any good it will probably be too fast for the brakes

I actually thought that the front Output housing was shorter on a Stage 1 its not an issue just change it over the other thing you will need to do is change the speedo gears.
While the RR box is out reshim it as well

Only the front output shaft drive flange is different.
