    Td5 Running Rough

    G'Day All,

The Td5 started to run very rough this afternoon.

Nanocom throws up the following codes:
    27-05 - Injector 5 Peak Charge Long
    31-05 - Injector 5 Open circuit

Cleared the faults and restarted - still running rough and 31-05 comes up again.

Anyone know what these codes relate to and what the cause could be. I'm thinking possibly oil in the loom and I have a spare loom that I can fit.

I also get a squeal under acceleration - guessing either idler pulley or leaking exhaust manifold gasket?

    Any comments appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Franz

Check the injector out with a multimeter as well compare the readings with the others.

It is saying that there is no power going to or through that injector.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

    Thanks Stevo.

So I guess that I need to pull the rocker cover off and check the voltage to each injector or is there another way? Does the ignition need to be on?

Leaking exhaust gasket sounds remakably like serious belt slipping, so you're probably on the money with that diagnosis.

My bet is "oil in injector harness" short, especially if the miss comes back immediately after clearing fault. Check the intercooler hoses and clamps before you start taking the engine apart for gasket replacements. Often these hoses leak/squeal if clamp tension has dropped. Injector harness is easily available and hose clamps are cheap.

Thanks Pete, I'll check the hoses.

I replaced the short loom with a new one and it runs fine again - just need to isolate that squeal now - will start with an intercooler hose check.

Mine did this, tracked it down to a siezed bearing in the idler pulley.....
