will an auto box out of 1986 range rover bolt up to an 82 model?
does the later model 4 speed auto have an ecu or ?

Will bolt up not a worry try and get all the gear with the box tho even the exhaust as it may be made to tuck around the auto .Originally Posted by incisor

Yes the engine end is the same. Big hammer needed maybe, mounts and shafts may change. Although the 4 speed manual isn't all that small.
Definitely no ECU, everything is hydraulic until the P38a.

Na im preaty sure the x members are the same but im 100% sure on the rest and if it was a 4spd the shafts should be the same and when the tranny tunnel goes in the seats will need to be moved closer to the doors to allow for the wider tunnel
