    a question about auto boxes and RRC

    will an auto box out of 1986 range rover bolt up to an 82 model?

    does the later model 4 speed auto have an ecu or ?
    2007 Discovery 3 SE7 TDV6 2.7

    Will bolt up not a worry try and get all the gear with the box tho even the exhaust as it may be made to tuck around the auto .

    Also what box is currently in the rangie as you will find you will also need the floor pan from the 86 as the ZF is alot bigger .

    It may well be a easyer task to fit all the goodies from the 82 to the 86 and rename it an 82 if you get my drift

    Doesn't the crossmember under the box also need to be swapped?

    Yes the engine end is the same. Big hammer needed maybe, mounts and shafts may change. Although the 4 speed manual isn't all that small.

    Definitely no ECU, everything is hydraulic until the P38a.

    there you go...

    certainly didnt think they were non ecu till that far up the line....

    Na im preaty sure the x members are the same but im 100% sure on the rest and if it was a 4spd the shafts should be the same and when the tranny tunnel goes in the seats will need to be moved closer to the doors to allow for the wider tunnel
