Just a postscript to my dodgy EGT probe. The new probe arrived and upon inspection there is epoxy at the tip where the sensor is. The old one didn't have any (thus probably why it failed).
Again, I have put a 30deg bend in the probe to get into the gas stream. In fact, it wont bolt up if the probe is left straight, because the hole in the manifold goes up at an angle. Anyway, I'll see how this one lasts. Looking good at the moment and I was able to reseal the gasket to stop it leaking between the inspection plate and manifold.
Just remember I'm talking a 300tdi here which requires the special longer probe from Auber Instruments.
yeppoon! its right next to ya fork:p have you herd that one yet??
i grew up in rocky and kepple sands, how things have changed.
anyway, i have auber gauge thats attached to a fuel pressure sendor in the TD5...so far im on my 3rd sendor from the supplier:mad:...me thinks its actually a MAP sensor and not one designed to take fuel and heat...
i might turn it into a boost gauge:eek:
cheers phil
If I remember correctly, when I installed mine it came with 2 sets of instructions, one for the TD5 and one for the 300Tdi, from memory if you had the long probe it needed to be bent before installing it, other wise it can touch and give incorrect readings.
Baz.
Haha, yes heard that one a couple of months ago. We've only been here 4 weeks and love it.
I'm a little disappointed with Auber as I had to pay for a replacement probe, albeit a bit cheaper. Anyway, the strong Aussie dollar is on my side... Clearly they are having some quality control issues...:(
