What ratio TC are you after? We have a 1:1.003 ratio one here that is about to go on ebay (from behind the 727 torqueflight gearbox).

    Not really sure!

If I buy this Defender with the Disco auto and TC, I'll be looking to put a Defender TC back into it to lower the gearing a bit. So probably a standard Defender TC, if there is such a thing.

All AU defenders are 1.4:1 Disco is 1.22:1 up till 98/99 when they started fitting the Q case which is 1.21:1 (a huge change ). The 1.003:1 would be taller again the what you have, and was fitted to some rangies and isuzu one-tens.

Sorry Blknight , I did apologise for those inherent ramblings !
However Ive set up more Automatics for offroad racing , on roadracing , speedway , dirt circuit , hillclimbs , NORMAL everday use , towing and finally Drag racing , than you have had hot breakfeasts , using every automatic you have ever heard of and most you probably havent heard of . Enough ****ing contest, can I help you with anything Blknight ,perhaps a Trimatic , fully manulised for your application perhaps ?
What number you run at Willowbank , havent seen you ??

WTF does this have to do with anything???

In case you didn't notice, this is a 4x4 website.

The ZF4HP22 seems to hold up well behind a Tdi/TD5, and work well on an off road. Since you are the self proclaimed auto trans expert, how would you suggest improving it for offroad use behind a diesel?

Sorry Isuzurover , as you have said it was drivel , I apologise , I was mainly commenting on his problem of being slow to take off , so my comments were about the tune of the Torque convertor in terms of stall/flash/and lockup speed /Rpm/Torque. Willowbank is a Andra drag racing facility in Queensland similar to Motoplex , and doesnt have much to do with 4X4 's although some of us mad loosers throw our 4WD's down them for fun and to prove the state of tune .
