    Unhappy High pressure hose failed!

    Hi all,
My power steering is no more..
The high pressure hose that goes from the reservoir to the pump has pooped itself....Have tried everyone around sydney town and no-one has 1..
Anyone know of who to go thru to get 1 over here by next w/end so I can fix next weekend?
Looks like the arm muscles will get bigger with no power steering - just like the old days
    cheers all

Try KLR Automotive in Kingswood or British Motor Imports in Mulgrave.

Alternatively, get Pirtek or EnZed to make one.

take the hose off and take it to pirtek, enzed etc etc and have them make a new one using your fittings. I did this when i bought my car and they havent leaked a drop since and cost less than land rover lines.

If it's from the res to the pump then it's a suction hose. Only criteria is that it can support itself usually but in this app there's no restriction to suction at the reservoir so as long as it fits it should be ok. The pressure hoses are the ones with the hard lines and fittings (haven't seen a hose only pressure line on a D1) and the screw in fittings. The reservoir hose is only clamped on yes?

Just to further this if the high pressure lines go they can't crimp a hose directly to the tube, but ask Pirtek (they definitely have them as I sell them to them) for a lifesaver fitting. it's a hose end that has a bare end for silver soldering anything to. In this case the hard line.

umm there is no high pressure hose from the pump to the reservoir just a suction hose, If thats the one thats gone as a temp fix you can use some 3/4 inch garden hose.

i didnt pick up on that, yeah the pressure lines dont run to from the reservoir, and yes they are clamped on.

I put a hole in one of mine cause it was rubbing on a bolt, made a nice puddle in woolies carpark in Lithgow.

I'm only in Seven hills if it's a problem let me know and I can source some hose and send it over, just check the minor ID of the fitting for the hose on pump and reservoir. On the D2 ACE res/pump the hose is a different size at each end. You can't buy it (well I couldn't find it) and made a new one with a reduction nipple in the middle. Don't know about the D1 PS.

Seriously gazza, rip the line off and take it to Pirtek, it will be cheaper, quicker and a better oil line and you'll get it quicker.
