you dont have to wrap the chassis rails, there are some other points under there that you can use to anchor the cable to

I ran my power (8B&S) from the auxiliary battery down under the floor and tied it to the steel brake line that runs down the passenger side. It keeps it tucked up very high and up until I sold the car it hadn't moved. There is a flange that the brake line is attached to that gives some protection to both from being hit from below.

I was initially going to tie it to the chassis but found it was much better up on the floor.

Thanks for your thoughts and offers on this subject lads. I like the idea of running the cable through the chassis rail, the cable's protected to the up-most degree and it would look like a factory install. I would have to drill two 25mm entry/exit points front and rear to achieve this... would this be an issue? Otherwise I will go with the in-car under carpet route, which in it self I believe is a valid option.

you can use the existing holes in the chassis.

there are some other than small holes to be found if you know where to look

The cable I'm using is approx. 21mm wide so a 25mm hole gives a little room to move whilst fitting. I'll have a little ponder over night over this issue and keep you informed about my choice of routing. I might even post some piccies up if I get the chance.
