Long Ranger fuel tank sender unit advice please

    Hi All

I scored a second hand 120 litre "Long Ranger" fuel tank for my 130. It is currently being cleaned, pressure tested and painted.

When it was delivered to me there was a sender unit attached but it had been pushed in and therefore broken.

Can I use the sender unit from my existing original tank and place it into the Long Ranger tank?

I am guessing I will have to modify the float bowl position to get the correct range.

    Thanks
    Andrew

Just had a quick read of my install instructions (td5 130) no mention of float mod.
    Their phone no is 02 49533288 fax 02 49531916.
    Cheers Pat.

I think they use the original sender unit.

When I bought my Defender the sender unit read from full to empty for the top of the tank. Then it read empty for the remaining 70 litres!!!!

I pulled it out and changed it, so now it reads full till I get to 600+ km, then I get a linear decline to empty, this information is a lot more useful. I reset the trip meter with every tank, so the mileage gives me an idea about fuel level till the half way point.

So you should be able to fit your old sender unit, and bend the float wire so it gives an accurate reading on the lower half.

I've got the 127 Lt in my 110 and it uses the original sender unit and you have to adjust the float arm to get it to read correctly. The instructions were with the tank telling you the length to move it. Sorry dont have them any more.
