thanks for all the suggestions guys, the problem turned out to be mud. Even after cleaning a few plugs the thing still wouldn't spark, replaced said plugs and all is well again.
How I test this is to remove both wires from the coil. I then join the two wires to an LED test light. Turn ignition on and light should glow(If it doesn't reverse the wires). Now crank the engine and the light should pulse on off on off repeatabley, reasonably quick. If it does your coil is faulty. If the light just stays on you have a problem at the dizzy.
