    water in firewall?

    hi people,
my 81 year old mother has a 2001 auto V8 Disco2. When driving around it sounds like there is water bubbling around in the pelum(?) chamber. I had the mechanic check all drain hoses with no success. I wondered whether
the condensation from air conditioner was getting blocked in. The engine, radiator w/washers etc are ok.
Has anyone else had this problem or knows what is?
    regards

it could be bubbles in the heater core, a sign that a head gasket is going. try sdoing a search on heater core noise theres lots of posts on this issue.

in addition, you could have an aircon guy check the aircon condensation drain - they do block up (hope it's that and not the former)

Doh! I'm glad I've got a user name rather than my real name!

Mum does have a computer however she hasn't been using it of late. I think the CWA is more her scene.

The coolant is a bit low and I will get an aircon mechanic to check if condensation isn't escaping.

    many thanks

Pull the carpet up in the footwells and check for coolant under the carpet.

My disco did this for a while, its a D1 not a D2, but turned out the heater core was leaking. Its not a good sign that the coolant level is down.

Might pay to take it to a radiator place and have the cooling system pressure tested.

I topped up the coolant and the gurgling noise has gone! Will have to work out where coolant has gone. The sound must have been the heater core.
Many thanks to all, I'm glad I didn't go on a wild goose chase looking for water/rain build up,
    regards
