I thought it was A&B doing those upgrades.

I spent bloody hours hunting down this. What I did find and now I will have to hunt it up again was a company in either the UK or Germany, I cant remember which that produce a heavy duty upgrade kit for both.

I was leaning towards swapping the 22 for the 24E and getting a compushift to move it and the heavy duty kit fitted by a reputable auto mob.

House deposit has gotten in the way now

Try Manuel Automatics in Thomastown, Vic. ZF long time specialists. And reasonably priced as well.

I think JustinC has had dealings and would be able to advise.

You maybe best off finding a good doner 24 out of a RR either as bits or a swapout. The only difference will be a little bit of extra length to accomodate the heavier/larger torque convertor. If you do this leg work i would be surprised if you can't find a good ZF shop to do the job.

this is the reply i got from ashcrofts asking the same question.

    the V8 is quite different,

bellhousing can swap easily but you will need the TD5 converter, also the rear end is shorter on the V8

valve bodies will have slight differences but not sure how important this will be,

I can get a 24, and I can swap the convertor, bellhousing, change the oil lines etc but it would be alot of rooting around if the valve bodies arnt compatible with the TD5's torque curve/power delivery.

would be good if you could find the info or at least point me in the right direction, it may be easier to get someone to do the work if all the parts are supplied.

Certainly John Davis at Annangrove has a source as he arranged for a friend's 4HP22 to be upgraded to live with a 5litre conversion.

Tony Dominello Autos in Dural, just did mine and couldn't be better. New hand built converter, new (and extra) clutches, new TC lockup clutch.

He does mostly ZF's (6hp's) from falcons and upgrades them for drag racing. From his books etc the only difference between a 22 & 24 was the oil pump. The converter appears the same save for possibly some internal differences. Looking at the specs for both he was more than happy to upgrade my 22 for the 4.6 rather than try to source parts or a complete 24 to then rebuild anyway.
