    Performance pads

    Hi all,

I am trying to find out if Hardie Ferodo make a Pad to suit Defender front (BB number is DB1305) in the DS2500 material. I have tried numerous online catalogues without any success. Does any one here have any way of finding out, IE any OTHER catalogue searches??? I am online search overloaded.
OR, can anyone suggest any other pad that may be close to these in material/ performance. EBC is already a consideration.
    Thanks,

    JC

    Hi Justin,

I have found Hawk (HT10) pads more progressive than Ferodo (2500 & 3000).....but will have to see if they make them for the defender....HT10 might be a little much but Hawk blues may suit perfectly. Will do a search and call my supplier on Monday if you like.

    Cheers

Try Competition Friction 0262268877, Fax 0262268833, or info@compfriction.com.au.

They will know if that combination is available and will tell you where you can get them...

I have no connection with them whatsoever.

If it's not in the catalogue, it's not in production when it comes to auto applications.
DS2500 is truck & commercial use isn't it???
Wouldn't it be a bit hard on rotors & drums for passenger/4wd apps??? I was under the impression DS2500 generated a bit more heat from the friction process, which makes them good grip wise, but is harder on metal components.....?

Agreed, but I am looking for a way to improve the braking performance when using 33's and steel heavier rims, and as the 110 will be heavier than the RRC, and I will be towing also, I need some premum material. Not fussed about disc destruction, thats what makes good brakes good.
Hoping it is in the catalogue, I'll find out when they reply I guess.

If I could fit bigger diameter rotors and calipers etc I would, but don't want to go above 16" Wolf wheels.

I have been told DS2500 has a good feel aswell cold, is that anyone elses experience?

    Thanks,

    JC

I've tried a few different pads and OEM are the best followed by EBC and ebay-general generic type are the worst. OEM give the best pedal feel and are soft which is why I like them, EBC's if used with high temp fluid can cop a flogging but can give a bad feel if it's cold and raining. I like OEM for general use but if I was towing a van etc I'd fit EBC and fluid to suit. Pat

Competition Friction came back to me today with a good price, and I'll probably give them a go although they don't have a listing, if I provide them a sample they will 'cut' me some.
Apparently this is a common occurrence.

I'll report on the results when I get to that stage on the build

    Fitting 4000series rotors etc too.
