    Setting up Twin thermo fans

Came across this while looking arond for a Twin thermo kit.

Our New Ultimate Cooling Kit !!!
This kit has all the nessasary hardware to operate the fans as two individual units !!!
That is the first thermostat kicks in @ 50 degrees for one fan operation only!!! when your engine gets a little warmer, the second thermostat kicks in @ 70 degrees combining both fans for maximum cooling performance. All nessasary wiring instructions, two individual relays, two individual temp switches, terminals and hardware etc is included, there is no other kit available on the market that comes close to out performing the Ultimate Cooling kit for performance or price !!! $199 on Fleabay

Outwardly seems like a good deal , however , those pretermined cut-in temps of 50C and 70C have me a little worried !! If running a 88C thermostat then where these temp sensors are placed in the system would be critical .Perhaps the the EFI enrichment might be on for a lot longer ,apart from a slow heat up time for the heater/demister system . Exactly how much is the temp drop across the radiator in the standard system supposed to be ? considering thermal shock and total system heat load ? interesting !!! Wonder how the Bypass system effects it ?? More questions than answers !!

    Save your doe ....

Walk straight up to a wrecked 1995 to 98 ford & get the thermo fan out ..

with a pair of snips, cut out the thermo fan relay block, complete with the wiring loom ... The relay block gives the full volts to the fans .... and is already setup for High & Low

Now add 2 more (resistored) relays for high and low switch points ... 1 being from the A/C thermo fan for Low ... and the other from the ECU temp sender switch on the motor for High .... The ECU temp sender is rated, So the fans will be "Auto ON / OFF controlled"
I'm using a sender unit rated 95 degree ON & 90 degree OFF

Install a switch to the inside of your cabin and have 2core wire for bridging the ECU temp sender which will give you a manual switching of ON to the High Fans when required

    Install the Ford Thermo fans

Job complete and all for less than a $100 ....

    Cheers
    Mike

the v8's run around the 70-80 mark on the thermostats.
Until it gets to normal running temperature no point in even turning the fans on ! 50 degree's ?? why? lol

For you this system would be a waste of $$$$ unless you can adjust the temps.

I used Falcon EL fans plus a Flex a Lite variable speed controller from Summit Racing: USD129

As posted elsewhere, I've got one fan on all the time and the other on an adjustable switch (Repco $50). Less than ideal with one on all the time, but has been worked for a long time now.

The ability to adjust when one or both kick in is handy I reckon.

There is a wealth of info on Outers in auto elecs section stickies on various Tridon temp switches and thermo switching and fans.

    cheers, DL
