There is always the Ford fan clutch, could get you out of trouble if you can find a good working one cheap. Even new they are sometimes available under $100. The 6 cylinder EA-ED one runs clockwise (LH thread) and the V8 runs anti-clockwise (RH thread) so one will fit your version of Landie I'm sure.
And new genuine fake AU thermos in the shroud are still $200 at the Ford wreckers next to Repco in Thompsons Rd North Geelong. Saw them yesterday.
cheers, DL
I just ordered one from Brookwells, was half the cost of what is available here, just waiting for it to arrive.
In the meantime I dont do long trips, keep the revs down and check water levels every day.
I got 80ks down the freeway then it boiled last weekend. :(

Last week I had 2.1t of steel scrap on the car trailer. All up weight was 5.2t. It was a 30 in the shade and as humid as hell. Temp gauge never moved. New viscous fan worked well.
If you were driving at freeway speeds ie over about 60KMh , you do not only have a viscous fan problem, you have a blocked radiator or blown headgasket problem.Quote:

I usually just rope them to the drive pully. ITs quick and easy..
Although After Ive locked up a VC I put a caveat of not to exceed about 2500RPM on the donk.
The radiators next, I need to do the rocker cover gaskets so that would be a good time to do the head gaskets as well.
Its my daily so things will be done bit by bit as time and cash allow.

And maybe a cam .
