    Disco rear door lock

G,day L/R lovers Simon here on a beaut day in FNQ................................
until I tried to open the rear door on my 02 disco.
After a bit of stuffing around I was able to flick the lock from my now disassembled door from inside.
I,ve now pulled the door lock out and can,t seem to find anything amiss.

    HELP!............................................. ......

    please.

The little spring on the child safety lock will be the culprit.

if it is stuck due to dust i have found that a few taps with a rubber mallet on the door between the handle and latch was enough to free up mine after getting dusted

Is that the piece down the bottom, cos if it is it,s broken,as is the plastic casing meaning a new lock is required.
Can the lock of an early,92/3 disco fit ,as there is a wrecker up here.
    Thanx.

    What year Disco?
If it's a D2, about 01-02, they become choked with dust. I got into a habit of opening mine up each year and brushing all the mechanism down with petrol then drying off/airing o/night, dusting with graphite.

The big enemy of the system is OIL... the dust sticks to it like **** to a blanket

Thanx to all who answered, unfortunately you were all wrong.......................

It,s put a leg out of bed;the bracket holding the small flap looking thingy down the bottom of the lock has broken.I,m guessing it,s part of the child lock mentioned previously.
Another lock is on it,s way up now.

    Cheers all.Simon.

Oh,and the car is for sale as well,I,ll post an add when my son works out how to put photo,s on the site.

Really...isn't the little spring? I would have thought that's definitely what it was, and it's a bit of a bugger to fix in the rear door too. Such a small little thing, it laughs and taunts you as you try to get the mechanism out to reach it at all...I hate that rear door lock mechanism!!!
