Freelander TD4 turning over but won't start..

SWMBO just rang from the shopping centre to say the Freebie won't start. It is cranking over without any problems, I can hear it, but it just won't go that next step.

Any obvious checks you can think of ?

Hopefully it's not the fuel pump but that's about all that plays up on the Td4.

Well I did a bit of a search and discovered that I am not Robinson Crusoe with this issue.

Others have reported exact same symptoms, and found that after letting it sit for a while to cool down a bit, it usually goes.

    This seemed to work.

Dave, SWAMBO's Freeloader displayed the same symptoms in 2007 - LR towed it and replaced the injectors ($$$$), and soon after that the fuel pump went.

My guess is that it was bad tank of diesel (probably diluted with parrafin & water) that destroyed these parts.

Start with the tank and work your way to the engine bay: check the pump & filter (could be blocked and no diesel is getting to the engine).

Did the others mention what the problem was eventually?
