So after fitting longer rear shocks to my Def 110 tray back(konis, Merc truck fronts, 12 inch, pin bottom eye top) I finally got around to making up some rear shock mounts to extend the shock up so it wouldn't eat **** at bump....
for legal reasons, and others, I wanted them to just bolt on using the 3 exsisting mounting holes. Having read and seen the terrible binding on the stock mount, I wanted to address this also. A few people with WAY more experience and knowledge than me had cycled longer shocks and found that the best angle using the stock axle mount is what LR came up with on the D2. Ill run a "strut brace" between the 2 mounts as they can now put alot more "leverage" on the stock mounting point/chassis
Yes they are made from thicker material than probably nessecary, but it was free so thats that.

Looks like it'll work fine. Presuming you've checked full articulation clearances already.
We will seeI think they will be fine the shock is pretty much taking the same path as stock.....only its a touch more vertical when viewed from the rear of the car....ie the shock is a little further out off the chassis. It wouldnt be much different to a D2 as I scaled some pics etc. I think the tyre would rub the spring perch first
Good job Serg.Many years ago after I had fitted standard Range Rover rear suspension to my SWB series 2, I spent a whole day painstakingly cycling the rear suspension with the aid of a gantry and chain hoist,each time slightly changing pin mount position to determin the optimum top damper mounting angle in order to increase the life of the Koni units I used from little more than 6 months(due to piston shaft flex) to a couple of years of frequent challenging cross country use. I ended up with a mounting location and compound angle that is unfortunately very difficult to describe clearly, but to give a rough example, if you parked the truck a metre away from and parrallel to a wall and projected an imaginary centre line out from the top pin it would intersect the wall at approx mid wheelbase and 1.5 metres off the ground.The pin was welded to the actual spring mounting approx 120mm outboard of the chassis rail and 120mm forward of spring centre.The bottom mounts were std L/Rover 110 (both forward) I built 2 sets of these together with bolt on coil suspension conversion kits, but one ended up on another 2a swb and the other a series 1 swb that were shipped to the island of Nauru.Sadly I didn't make drawings or take any photos of the damper mounting.

I screwed up with my explaination Serg (oldtimers disease) the imaginary line intersected the wall mid wheelbase and half meter above ground not one and a half.. yours looks pretty good. I cut the top stone shield off the damper so that i can check for shaft bowing at full articulation. as you know they bow significantly on standard suspension.
