Alternate engines for 01 D2 v8 petrol?

so what was the Ford GBA V6? 1.5ltr turbo??? where was this developed and from what??

looks like the ford 3.0ltr (1966-1986 rule era) V8 was based on the Indy 4.2ltr V.8 ...this is not the Cosrworth DFV or latter HBA

these 2 Ford engines were run in the same time/rule era as the Cosworth DFV then towards the end DFY, which was based on rules from 1966-1986....the Ford V6 1.5t carring over to 1987-88??? as well as the Cosworth DFV varriant DFY and DFR....not to be confused with the Ford built engines. It was in the 1989-1994 that Ford introduced and refined its V8 HBA engine and variants

was there a single more successful F1 engine than the cosworth DFV? (155 wins from 262 starts between 1967-1985)

overall I believe Ferrari to have first place as engine manufacture with F1 wins....216 over Ford's 176.....and 155 of those being the Cosworth DFV...

all wonderful pieces of engineering....But that Cosworth was one magic engine....and we cant forget to thank the genuis Colin Chapman for going to Ford (who contracted Cosworth to build it) with the idea of a F1 engine that could be used as part of the structual architecture of the car .

i was informed of a conversion yesterday that was carried out on a fender 130, a fello near Brisbane has put a TD8 from a Rangie with the 6 speed auto, now this sounds like a sweet conversion and i would certainly entertain the idea for our D2 when the TD5 craps its self which by all intent will happen and not way way into the future :angel:.

I can not say how much it cost but compaired to the repair cost for a TD5 it wouldnt be much different :wasntme:

really??? So we are talking under 10k????

how many kms did the td8 have on it? does it have electrics working off anything other than the gearbox, like wheel sensors etc?/

All i know is the TDv8, transmission, leather seats, dash, wheels where fitted to the fender and the car setup was worth 45k, my mate was taken for a run in it and he said it went great, the fello told him it gets around 8L/100 on the highway, i honestly can not say any more than this as i just do not know but it sounds like one of the sweetest conversions i have ever heard of. My mate drives a 100s landy and he was very impressed with the fender and this is why i do know the hole price because he asked how much fo 1 like it, i also do not know the age of the fender IE TDI or TD5, if i find out more i will post.

it was your comment that compared to the repair cost of a TD5 that it wouldnt be much different...

I would bet this not the case....myself having bought a create 2.8tgv long motor for 12k plus installation and it was ment to be "bolt" in....it still cost more...

I would hedge a bet that you could get a pretty well built TD5 for 10k and not even purchase a TDv8 with trans....let alone the cost of fitting that custom application....

would be a good engine though...only down fall would be its size and weight

2.8TGV ???? what breed is this one, I have seen the 3.6 TDV8 and it is not a very big engine at all, i would say there would be plenty of room left in the engine bay.

The best thing with a conversion like this is wouldnt it make a 200s look like crap in comparison, iam amazed as why LR didnt make this an engine option in the D4

the south American motor company International bought the rights to the 300tdi when LR went to the TD5. LR still needed a 300tdi for its 3rd world exports. This company produced them and then developed their own version based on it...all be it with alot of new design changes... it is 2.8lts and has a varible vane turbo (you could get it with a standard turbo also)
