From very foggy memory I think it might be where the tacho gets connected. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers,

What does the D+ do in the alternator
What is behind it?? A zener diode??
Can anybody point me to a site that give explanations about these things please??

its the Drive for the Tacho.
essentailly all it does is a single sided rectification off of the AC on one phase of the alternator so that a dc pulse is presented to the tacho that then does white man magic, and converts the pulse rate to needle movement which then indicates crank RPMs.
or were you asking about how an alternator works in general?
