Sounds good.
Here's a S2a on REMLR that seems to have the plugs you mention but sitting proud.

Just finished my little mod for my series 3 aux power sockets. As the original plugs are not easy to come by and normally only power an inspection lamp, I have performed a simple mod to allow the use of off the shelf items and make this socket usable once more while keeping the look virtually unchained. Using plugs called banana plugs available from electronics outlets (the same type used for multimeter leads) which cost a bit over $1 each. As they are too big at 4mm to fit into the factory socket, I used my trusty drill press to shave them out to the right size to take the banana plug. Bingo! Plugs look original and the colour coded plugs make it idiot proof. It can be adapted to a lighter socket for charging a phone or gps etc. Literally a 5 minute job to modify but so much more usable and easy to swap back to original plugs if required. I can post some pics if anyone is interested in replicating this setup. If using the socket for any more than a low power consumption device such as a phone charger, run a separate fuse and redo the wiring otherwise it won't handle it!
Sounds good.

I have a small solar panel and regulator plugged into these sockets on my '79 RRC.
The correct accessory plugs are available at lots of places!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Sadly while they are available in the UK I have yet to find one in Oz, with postage the cost to get one and have it sent would not be cheap I'd imagine, plus the added disadvantage that they are not pole specific (ie thy can plug in either way round) which is ok for an inspection bulb but not good for a charger or powered device. Looking at the picture is there another part to this plug that covers the whole thing so it is sealed and insulated?
